Tea and Tents 2016

t and t 2016

Laraine and Paula went to the Tea and Tents WI Camping Weekend on the hottest weekend of the year at Walesby Forest in Nottinghamshire. We had a fab time!!

Tea and Tents is a wonderful idea created by a group of inspiring women who worked together, to bring the rest of us together for a weekend of fun, friendship, laughter and wine.

We were camping along with 568 other WI members from all over the country – a scout camp site was transformed into a mini-city of bunting, fairy lights and creativity at every turn

Amongst the many many workshops on offer we attended tea bag folding, candle making, paper heart weaving and fabric postcards.

There was also a talent contest, a Saturday night campfire, a yarn bomb, speakers corner and much much more

Elsa Schiaparelli exhibition

Post from Maggie S on Thurs 22nd October …

Today four of us enjoyed another Culture Cub outing, this time to see the Elsa Schiaparelli exhibition at Manchester Gallery of Costume in Platt Fields Park.  The exhibition is quite small but the costumes were really very beautiful.

The Gallery is well worth a visit and sparked many memories of our younger, slimmer selves.  We had one admission to Hot Pants, and I saw the very Ossie Clark design that I used to own.

Once again the Autumn sunshine  was kind to us and we finished our visit with a late lunch at Carluccio’s (With wine of course).

6 of us had an amazing time at Tea and Tents – a weekend of camping, activities and fun with 494 fellow WI members from all over the UK

Much laughter, fun, sun wine and chatter 🙂

We took a lot of stuff with us … this is just one sixth of it!

Our contribution to the Wizard of Oz yarn bomb was a section of yellow brick road – it’s the section under the feet of the scarecrow and Dorothy’s right foot
