November Activities

Monday 27th November – the AGM and a Cheese & Wine Tasting Competition

The President, Secretary and the Treasurer gave short reports about the last year.

The 2018 committee will comprise of Elicia (President), Sarah (Secretary), Jen R (Treasurer), Sue H, Val, Gill, Chris & Judy

Wine and Cheese tasting was VERY enjoyable – big yummy thanks to Sarah!

Four members and 1 dog went for a long hike (in lovely sunny weather!). They walked from Disley up to The Fox Inn at Brookbottom, then over the tops to New Mills and back to Disley via the Millennium Bridge and the canal

Four members went to Manchester and had a tour round Manchester Town Hall (‘The Original Manchester Town Hall Expert Historical Tour’) led by Ed Glinert. It was a fascinating 2 hours. The tour was followed by lunch at Tampopo in Albert Square – absolutely delicious.  I’d highly recommend the corn fritters and Singapore Noodles

There was a trip to a live screening (from the National Theatre) of Sondheim’s legendary musical Follies

Seventeen members attended a craft Workshop, led by Jenny, to make fabric Christmas Wreaths

This year, for the first time Disley WI participated in the Remembrance Day Ceremony on the Ram Green. A collection was made at the October meeting to  raise money to pay for a wreath from the WI – Elicia laid it on our behalf.
