Francis Bacon in Liverpool’s Tate

3 intrepid members of the Culture Club ventured over to Liverpool’s Tate Gallery to view an exhibition of the works of Francis Bacon.  Bacon is not to everyone’s taste, but we found it illuminating and insightful seeing the works on display, but were in agreement that we wouldn’t necessarily want them on display in our respective houses!
A trip to the Tate is always a joy for those interested in modern art.  They have a rotating display on the other floors complementing their exhibition schedule and it’s different each time we visit.   Yesterday we saw pieces from Louise Bourdain and Rachael Whiteread and my personal favourite was a Grayson Perry vase that was absolutely beautiful.  I’d never seen one up close before and the attention to detail was quite extraordinary.   I would certainly have house room for that!
After the exhibition, we repaired to Jamie Oliver’s Italian for a fantastic lunch special, where the quality was high and the price very reasonable.  A grand day out, all in all!
